IceWM is a window manager for the X Window System (freedesktop, XFree86). The goal of IceWM is speed, simplicity.

Login to your ubuntu system.

Run

(:table border=1 width=50% bgcolor=#cccc99 cellspacing=0 :)
(:cellnr:)
sudo apt-get install icewm
(:tableend:)

Also install xinit - X server initilization tool

sudo apt-get install xinit
(:tableend:)

Ubuntu desktop will already have the X windows system install.

Run the command below to satrt icewm

(:table border=1 width=50% bgcolor=#cccc99 cellspacing=0 :)
(:cellnr:)
sudo startx
(:tableend:)

Now icewm desktop should be up and running.
