Installign ICEWM on Ubuntu Server

IceWM is a window manager for the X Window System (freedesktop, XFree86). The goal of IceWM is speed, simplicity.

Run

sudo apt-get install icewm

Also install xinit - X server initilization tool

sudo apt-get install xinit

Ubuntu desktop will already have the X windows system install.

If you would like to install gnome-terminal and xterm then run the following command.

sudo apt-get install gnome-terminal xterm

Run the command below to satrt icewm

sudo startx

Now icewm desktop should be up and running.
